I have just returned from a stay in Egypt from February 10 to 21 organized with Terra Trips. It was the erikavoyage blog that convinced me of the idea of booking this program.
We were 2 adults and 2 children aged 2 and 4.5. The 4000th budget excluding aircraft (aircairo + easyJet) including the following process:
- Reception at the airport before customs control. A little confusing to entrust your passports to a person who runs off to get visas but you have to know how to trust. Free pass to quickly get out of the airport and quickly put the children to bed.
- Transfer by private 6-seater vehicle (as throughout the stay) in the company of Amro to the hotel near Giza (1 hour journey from 11 p.m. to midnight). First glimpse of Cairo and glad I didn't have to drive there.
- Hotel for 3 nights with breakfast
- 3 days visit: Saqqara, Dahshur, Giza, Memphis, Cairo Museum, Al-Azhar Mosque, Souk
- French-speaking guide and driver who knew how to create a nice bond with our children. Passionate guide and therefore a lot of information, sometimes difficult for the children and even for us at the entrances to the sites, impatient to wander among the remains. But really very nice and caring and attentive to our needs.
- lunchtime meals
- Having not taken a SIM card, Amro contacted me every midday via the guide to find out if everything was going well and certain evenings by WhatsApp message at the hotel for important information such as the departure time the next day
- Bottled water available in the car
- Night train to Luxor. Our guide waited for the late train with us until 8:15 p.m. It was an undeniable comfort because the station was crowded and announcements were incomprehensible to us.
- Welcome on arrival Luxor after a restless night but a fun experience
- New guide for 3 days Luxor. More discreet, made sure to condense the activities into the morning but it suited us very well with the children. The connection with the children was more distant than our Cairo guide.
- Temple of Luxor and Karnak
- Hotel for 3 nights with breakfast
- Midday meals
- Valleys of the kings with 3 fallen, valley of the queens with 2 tombs, felucca on the nile
- Temple of Hatshepsut and Valley of the Nobles with 3 fallen
- Transport to the Red Sea via Dendera (temple of Hathor which we took the liberty of visiting). Adorable driver who stopped twice without being asked to buy lollipops and small toys for our children who were a little turbulent at the time. Photo stop also in the desert mountains where the driver had a blast with our children making them do jumps. Great time.
- 3 nights all inclusive in Soma Bay (0 extra expenses)
- Welcome from an agency correspondent and hotel driver at the terminal with explanation of the upcoming process for control and boarding.
To summarize: impeccable, fluid and well-crafted organization. Friendly and endearing people (special mention to the Cairo team and driver to Soma Bay).
Peace of mind storing luggage in the car for days between 2 hotels. Price cheaper than French agencies consulted and equivalent to other local agencies consulted and above all tranquility and serenity in letting yourself be guided in a country where the change of scenery is total (especially in Cairo). And obviously personally full of good family memories.
