Hello,
I don't usually leave comments on my travels but I take the time to do so to reassure people who, like me, do not wish to visit theEgypt in the “tour operator cruise” format and want a personalized trip.
So, I wanted to give feedback on my experience of staying in Egypt with Terra Trips, discovered on the guide du routard forum.
There were 5 of us (2 adults and 3 teenagers aged 18, 15 and 13) for 7 days with a 3-part programme: Cairo, Aswan and Abu Simbel. Not being used to going through an agency to organize my trips, I first looked through general agencies but mass tourism really doesn't suit me.
So I contacted Amro by email, who guided me in organizing the stay, taking into account my different wishes and requirements (separate rooms for our daughters and our son, a view of the pyramids for the Cairo hotel and several small details).
At the 8th version of the personalized program, we validated. Everything is included except one meal per day and tips, drivers and guides only for the 5 of us.
Communication before and during the trip was very easy.
Amro met us at the airport and took us to the hotel in Cairo. At the airport, a person took care of the check-in, visas and all the formalities, which saved us time and mental load…
For the 3 days in Cairo, we had Youssef as our driver, very kind and an ace driver in a city where traffic is hellish. Mustafa, our guide in Cairo was exceptional, very erudite and adapting to our desires for visits. His stories were fascinating and enchanted the whole family.
It made us want to know even more about Cairo, all while avoiding “tourist trap” places.
The restaurants chosen were with Egyptian specialties and most often frequented by locals.
For the second part of the trip (Aswan-Abu Simbel), we stayed in a great hotel in Aswan on an island, allowing us to find peace and quiet and take some time to rest.
The end at Abu Simbel is worth it because the site is isolated 3H30 drive south of Aswan. We took the option of a night there in order to be able to settle down at the hotel after the road and enjoy the site of Abu Simbel early in the morning before the arrival of the tourist coaches.
We were almost alone in the temples and were able to take photos without having lots of people around us because after 9am, it becomes complicated.
The desert crossing in an air-conditioned van is easy with a road in good condition, and the short stop in the middle of the desert at the isolated gas station to freshen up is also worth the detour.
The organization of the trip is totally personalized and Amro checks in daily to see if everything is going well, he was even able to organize at the last minute a visit to the French Institute in Cairo where we wanted to go for personal reasons.
In short, a stay that allows you to see theEgypt at their own pace and according to their wishes without the mental burden of the organizational logistics of such a stay.

Egypt is perhaps one of the oldest tourist destinations in the world. Countless travellers, from ancient Greeks and Romans to medieval pilgrims, 19th-century Egyptologists and modern-day Instagrammers, have been drawn to this corner of northeast Africa to see and experience its legendary wonders for themselves.
Egypt has more than its fair share of iconic sights: The stark pyramids of Giza, the colossal temples of Abu Simbel, the alluring Great Sphinx (one of the oldest statues in the world) and the sand-covered tombs of the Valley Kings are just a few examples.
So far, what you have rendered as text compared to their text, I consider it to be ''good''; but it's the sequel that really turns out to be a ''copy-paste'' that I'm going to try to make sure it doesn't look like ''copy-paste'').
But behind these classic and instantly recognizable images are thousands of other aspects that tell lesser-known, but equally iconic stories about this multi-faceted country.
This ancient country that is Egypt, is full of people from all over the world, eager to know its every nook and cranny, and to rub shoulders with the mythical characters of the time of the pharaohs. Whether it's the famous Ramses II, Tutankhamun, or even Cleopatra and Nefertiti; in short, all the greats of this world that legendary Egypt has sheltered. And how not to speak of these gods that are Isis and Osiris (also well known from the adventures of Asterix and Obelix). Yes, certainly, taking a trip to the country where the pharaohs lived is a must for sure!
But Egypt has more to offer anyone who loves adventures of all kinds: excursions in the deserts while admiring the sublime sand dunes. Without forgetting of course the marvelous breathtaking pristine white deserts. Also, having the ultimate experience of sailing on the majestic Nile, and getting to know its residents and their ancestral customs. Also make a spectacular stop at the splendid and historic Red Sea as well as these well-known dive sites.
You should also know that Egypt is married to the East (East, Asia) and the West (West, Europe). How not to think of preparing a trip to this majestic country that is Egypt, country of the pharaohs, ''the cradle of civilization''!
