We have just returned from a 9-day trip organized in partnership with Terra trips.
I looked first in French agencies, then in the backpacker's guide to finally choose this agency.
I knew what I didn't want: cruise with lots of tourists, crowded buses with the obligation to follow the group for explanations, additional excursions, etc...
My choice fell on this agency (in view of the positive reviews) and I confirm that in every respect my trip went very well. I felt like a VIP!
From the start I had chosen the must-sees from Cairo to Abu Simbel, certainly it's a long journey, but it was my choice. After several discussions with Amro (hyper responsive), we agreed on a quote.
Special mention for the drivers (especially in Cairo where you have to constantly keep an eye on the mirrors), the guides who are not heavy (I was a little apprehensive, because they are with us almost all day).
We always had the time we wanted in free time to take photos, they knew how to avoid crowds of groups and we visited certain sites with almost no one: Abu Simbel for example. Everyone is punctual, even early.
In short, I'm not going to write pages, but don't hesitate to go through them to have a hassle-free dream vacation.
- Visit to the Cairo Museum, with the unmissable: Tutankhamun. Then walking tour of the old city of northern Cairo, with a visit to a mosque whose name I forgot. -Walk in the Khan el khalili souk, with some first purchases.
- Visit to the Giza plateau: the 3 pyramids and the sphinx. I didn't go inside the pyramids, because I had already done so 30 years ago, and nothing extraordinary inside.
- Visit to the site of Saqqara with the famous step pyramid which I really found superb and entry into the pyramid of Titi (nothing extraordinary but included in the entrance ticket, so you might as well go there).
- Flight to Aswan, up very early, but hey we are there to see as many things as possible. We took a small motorboat to visit the Philae temple.
- Very pretty temple to see. Boat visit also to the nature reserve and stop in a Nubian village very visited by both tourists and Egyptians. We also visited a house with a karkade break and mint tea.
- Departure for Abu Simbel, of course there is a road, but it is my favorite. I was really impressed. We met a lot of buses returning from the visit, we did it without too many people, which is a privilege.
- Small felucca cruise with night. The landscapes are nice, but I don't recommend spending more than one night there, because it can quickly become monotonous, and personally I barely slept. I opted for this, following the positive comments on the forum.
- -on the road towards Luxor, we stop at Edfu which is the best preserved temple because it is more recent.
- We then continue our journey to Luxor, on a country road, not really comfortable, but it's authentic charm, and we pass through many villages which seem frozen in time. At the end of the afternoon, we visit the temple of Luxor illuminated, simply magical, even if there are a lot of people.
- Karnak: my husband was delighted because it reminded him of a James Bond with Roger Moore and Shark, then visit to the Valley of the Kings where we visited 3 tombs with our entrance ticket. They are not always open, they close and open depending on the period, to preserve them.
- Visit the grandiose temple of Hatshepsut whose paintings and sculptures have unfortunately been damaged, but it must be done.
- return to Cairo by plane: be careful to put your medicines and purchases in your suitcase, because it is at the airport Luxor that they were the most picky even though it was an internal flight: for the medicines fortunately we had the doctor's prescription with us, and they were very suspicious regarding the purchase of earrings that we bought it in a store.
- For the return to France, last advice, although we had bought a bottle of water after the checks, we were forced to throw it away at the last check before boarding, so there was no point in buying several.
A trip from Cairo to Abu Simbel, many things seen, but it was our choice. To do without hesitation, because it is a safe country: numerous controls, check points, controls in hotels and certain cafes.
For those like me who need to be reassured, no surprise, our trip as a couple corresponded to the initial estimate. During the trip, we are offered options (not obligatory), as in any organized trip. We are free to accept them or not.
Our 9-day trip went very well, we were like “roosters in dough”.
I couldn't see myself organizing everything by choosing guides and drivers on site, like some backpackers, the French agencies did not offer tailor-made trips like I was looking for, so we stopped, after several discussions on Terra Trips.
I'm not going to detail everything for you, because everyone can build their itinerary, their choice of visit with Amro (the director of the agency), but it's really serious (no offense to some comments who have not traveled with them). J
I will recommend Terra Trips to my friends and family, and I would like to find such an agency for my next trips to other countries.

Egypt is perhaps one of the oldest tourist destinations in the world. Countless travellers, from ancient Greeks and Romans to medieval pilgrims, 19th-century Egyptologists and modern-day Instagrammers, have been drawn to this corner of northeast Africa to see and experience its legendary wonders for themselves.
Egypt has more than its fair share of iconic sights: The stark pyramids of Giza, the colossal temples of Abu Simbel, the alluring Great Sphinx (one of the oldest statues in the world) and the sand-covered tombs of the Valley Kings are just a few examples.
So far, what you have rendered as text compared to their text, I consider it to be ''good''; but it's the sequel that really turns out to be a ''copy-paste'' that I'm going to try to make sure it doesn't look like ''copy-paste'').
But behind these classic and instantly recognizable images are thousands of other aspects that tell lesser-known, but equally iconic stories about this multi-faceted country.
This ancient country that is Egypt, is full of people from all over the world, eager to know its every nook and cranny, and to rub shoulders with the mythical characters of the time of the pharaohs. Whether it's the famous Ramses II, Tutankhamun, or even Cleopatra and Nefertiti; in short, all the greats of this world that legendary Egypt has sheltered. And how not to speak of these gods that are Isis and Osiris (also well known from the adventures of Asterix and Obelix). Yes, certainly, taking a trip to the country where the pharaohs lived is a must for sure!
But Egypt has more to offer anyone who loves adventures of all kinds: excursions in the deserts while admiring the sublime sand dunes. Without forgetting of course the marvelous breathtaking pristine white deserts. Also, having the ultimate experience of sailing on the majestic Nile, and getting to know its residents and their ancestral customs. Also make a spectacular stop at the splendid and historic Red Sea as well as these well-known dive sites.
You should also know that Egypt is married to the East (East, Asia) and the West (West, Europe). How not to think of preparing a trip to this majestic country that is Egypt, country of the pharaohs, ''the cradle of civilization''!
