Degla Valley is part of the northern plateau which is known as a main distinctive geographical environment in Egypt. In fact, the Degla Valley lies between latitude 56.29 north and 24.31 east. It is 30 km long and stretches from east to west.
The Degla Valley begins in the form of small tributaries where the water pours over hills bounding the valley. The reserve is about 60 square kilometers in area. The outstanding natural resources in the Degla Valley are its general scene which is rich in plant and animal life.
The valley is covered with the protective permanent planting layer containing 64 kinds of plants. Traces of deer availability have been newly recorded in these areas as well as 20 kinds of reptiles including Egyptian tortoises, and 12 kinds of eastern desert birds.
