Having already traveled two weeks in August 2013 with Terra-Trips.
I could only, on this January 1st, 2015, call on Amro and his team for a day of visit “at short notice”.
I planned a last minute trip for the new year in Egypt.
And what can I say except that Amro was as usual very responsive.
In just two days the day's program was booked according to my every wish:
A day with Saqqara thoroughly with Walid as guide. So not only did we do the monuments that I already knew, but I specifically asked to do, Serapeum of Saqqara or even the mastaba of Ti, and the newly opened tomb of Knoumhotep and Niankhkhnoum. All in all, a good morning of discovery and above all of an in-depth discussion with Walid.
Then Dahshur and its famous pyramid complexes, including the one that was the site of the first “perfect pyramid”. The most impressive “red” pyramid in my eyes although its condition seems worrying to me, the Bent Pyramid. Both to the glory of Pharaoh Séfnrou. Then Walid and I had a big discussion about the black pyramid.
To end on a high note, I chose Memphis and its museum. Namely that this great city and former capital, formerly called the balance of the two lands, only remains the elements appearing in the museum and its open courtyard. Or buried under the sands of the desert maybe who knows a next discovery in the future. In the museum is the famous recumbent colossus of Ramses II. The detour is worth it for lovers of Egyptology.
